Get Ready to ROCK! Radio celebrates 10 years with "Best of" show

A month long promotion highlights our 10 year interview archive

On Sunday 16 September (22:00 GMT) a special show reflects on 10 years of broadcasting.  The two-hour feature recalls presenters and interviews including contributions from Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull), David Coverdale and Todd Rundgren.

Says Station Manager David Randall: "It was fun putting this special together and realising just how far we've come in 10 years.  It has been really good to watch the progress of now established, or re-energised, names such as Joe Bonamassa, FM and Todd Rundgren and this show reflects that."

As part of the station's 10th anniversary celebrations, we'll be replaying some of our interview highlights gathered since 2008.

Steve Hackett

Prog royalty Steve Hackett chats to GRTR! ahead of orchestral tour

A 41 piece orchestra accompanies Steve Hackett on tour in October

Prog-meister Steve Hackett tours with a 41 piece orchestra in October, plus there is the release of a 6-CD/2-DVD box set covering the years 1984-2006.

Steve's orchestral tour stems from a one-off performance in March 2017 in the USA. He'll bring a symphonic slant to his "Genesis Revisited" catalogue.

October also sees the release of Broken Skies - Outspread Wings (1984 - 2006) a multi-disc collection of albums including the world music-inspired 'Til We Have Faces' and the live album 'Feedback 86' - all newly remastered, alongside a host of bonus tracks.

In addition to this, 2 DVD's feature several recent live rarities and 5.1 mixes of selected songs, including the 'Somewhere in South America' live set. This limited edition is rounded off by brand new artwork from Roger Dean and a 60-page book with liner notes, rare photos, lyrics and more.

On Monday 24 September (16:00 GMT; repeated Thursday 27, 23:00) he chats to Get Ready to ROCK! Radio in a new interview as part of the radio station's '10 Years in the making' celebration in September.

Foreigner - Can't Slow Down

Albums That Time Forgot...

The "comeback" album from Foreigner

Can't Slow Down was a fitting title to the album released by Foreigner in 2009.  It effectively marked their re-generation.  Since that time they've released several compilations and, most recently, an orchestral album.

'Can't Slow Down' was also available in several editions, including a Wal-Mart special that featured a bonus disk of classic hit re-mixes.

Monday-Friday, two tracks 18:00-19:00 GMT

Susan Santos

If you can't listen live...listen again!

You can catch up on various show highlights and interview/features via our Mixcloud page.  It's also a great way of sampling our output.

Pete Feenstra's recent guests have included Susan Santos (pictured) and Chris Bevington.

As part of our 10th Birthday celebrations we'll be repeating Pete's chat with Sari Schorr (18 September), and Joanne Shaw Taylor (25 September).

We have over 500 shows now archived and updated on a weekly basis.

Mixcloud

For artists and labels, our Mixcloud media is another way of getting your music "out there".  In respect of interview specials our presenters examine in some depth an artist's career and each sequence is sprinkled with carefully selected tracks that provide a fair and sometimes rare view of back catalogue.

For the listener this is a great way of catching up with an artist's output and discovering new material thereby informing future purchases.

Our Mixcloud material can easily be shared in social media or embedded in artist/label websites.

For our US listeners we also supply an alternative to the Mixcloud platform where possible, due to copyright restrictions in the USA.

Playlists

>> Every 1-2 weeks we select albums and tracks for more frequent airplay. These can be new releases or reissues.

How do we make our selection?  We use feedback from presenters and reviewers, and their opinions at www.getreadytorock.com

The aim is to signpost new artists where possible but not always the most obvious track or single and/or albums/artists worthy of further investigation.  Many selections are previewed in our weekly 'New to GRTR!' sequence.

Get Ready to ROCK! Radio - Smartphone

How can we help?

What can we offer artists and labels in terms of promotion?

  • We can jointly promote via our associated website www.getreadytorock.com - one of the web's main rock destinations for over 250,000 unique users each month.  Gig and album reviews are consistently high in Google for maximum visibility.

  • Reviews take - on average - a few minutes to get to the top of Google after publication - great visibility, and especially useful for an early tour review...

  • The radio station "tweets" the playlist in real time and also links directly to Last.FM - we brand each tweet with a genre hashtag.  Music lovers are more likely to find your music.

  • Selected shows are available via Mixcloud, another way of getting your music out there via our interview features/specials.

  • Our sponsored label and artist showcases highlight your product via radio, website and in iTunes.

  • Our "In Session" series is a further vehicle to show an artist's depth in the context of an acoustic or live performance.

Get Ready to ROCK! is independent and has built an enviable reputation for informed, enthusiastic, eclectic and comprehensive coverage since 2002.  We're not just metal, we're not just hard rock, we also support prog, blues and back catalogue as much as the contemporary.
