Get Ready to ROCK!
Radio celebrates its first birthday (October 2009)

Get Ready
to ROCK! Radio celebrates a year of broadcasting this October.
Programme
director David Randall commented, "We established the radio
channel as a complement to the well established and popular
website getreadytorock.com but the station is now taking on a
life of its own. Listeners like the mix of continuous
music sequences, specialist shows and the chance to hear the
less familiar both new and old. I am very proud to say that this
station devotes only five and a half hours per week to what
might be termed "classic rock hits" - long may it continue!"
This
October the station will unveil a new theme tune. David Randall
heard the track 'Free Rock Radio' on a promo CD several years
ago and it instantly struck a chord.
"The
lyrics perfectly sum up the feeling of nostalgia for a time when
pirate radio was pioneering new music, a sense of loss and
change not always for the better both in our lives generally and
in our radio listening specifically."
"We have
used an edited version of the song as our theme over the past
year but having approached the songwriter Veg and his band
Collaborator they have reworked the lyrics to suit our station.
The result is fantastic and I think the end result perfectly
sums up what Get Ready to ROCK! Radio is all about."
You can
hear the song at the start and close of daily broadcasting and
throughout October in our playlists.
